The following error about says it all - had it working no problems under a x32 setup...

any help appreciated

edit to add - also unable to uninstall mailman to try from scratch

Please open /var/lib/mailman/Mailman/mm_cfg.py

and set

DEFAULT_SERVER_LANGUAGE = 'en'

Restart mailman afterwards.

OK done as suggested - now when setting new list I get the following:-
