Default software center Ubuntu 11.10

I am running Ubuntu 11.10 classic 64 bit and now I cannot open the software center I have tried several tweaks to no avail including reinstalling software-properties-gtk . By uninstalling that I can get to repositories in Synaptic but even that looks weird. Software Sources still won't open. This started a couple of days ago.

What's the output of
Code:
ps aux | grep -i apt
? I guess you have another apt process running in the background.
