Default Multi (Server, DB) PhpMyAdmin

How exactly should the phpmyadmin setup be in multiserver configs. I have multiple webservers and a pair of mysql servers. One server is flagged as a mirror. Should the config-db.php for phpmyadmin be modified with the primary dbserver and dbport? I can modify the file appropriately and login via phpmyadmin, but cookie auth does not work at all. Any suggestion son the cookie auth and multi-server setups with phpmyadmin.
