Maybe that is the issue. I think I set different passwords for PHPMyAdmin and MySQL.

Should I be using the same password for both phpmyadmin and mysql? If so, how do I change one or both so they are the same?

There is no phpMyAdmin password. You must log in with your MySQL username and password.
