How To Set Up Software RAID1 On A Running System

Hello everyone!

I've got a question to the following tutorial:

There is something I don't understand:

Next replace /dev/sda1 with /dev/md0 and /dev/sda3 with /dev/md2 in /etc/mtab:

Why should I modify /etc/mtab? As I know, it's created dynamically. So is there any benefit in editing this file?

I *think* it is ok if you don't modify the file, but I didn't test it.
