subdomains under root domain?

So I set up a DNS zone, attributed it to no client and put in my server ip, this means 12gig.com now goes straight to var/www as I wish.

Can't seem to get subdomains working though?

Heres the screenshot attached, as you can see, I've tried to create henry.12gig.com and a wildcard. Neither are working. Everything else works fine (DNS work, 12gig resolves correctly). I can't seem to find the vhost file? /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/ doesn't have details.

Use of periods. (period: ie full stop, decimal point or whatever!)

www and mail work - they're not fully qualified therefore have no period
12gig.com. - is fully qualified - it has a period

the rest of your dns entries either need periods added or removed.

eg
*.12gig.com.
should work [ie with period]
or
*
should work [no period]
