So from an administrator stand point ISPConfig 2 is much more user friendly for us and the way we manage websites.
|
That depends on every ones own perspective. We receive many mails that say that ispconfig 3 is more user friendly and personally I prefer the way ISPConfig 3 works too.
Also ispconfig 3 has much more settings to fine tune your setup.

We are also looking at building a cluster server as well. It seems like this has not been done much before and for that it seems like ISPConfig 2 would work best. ISPConfig 3 might be best if we simply wanted to spread the load over several individual servers. Or at least that is our justification.

ISPConfig 2 does not support clusters as it can not replicate configuration data over the cluster. Thats why ISPConfig 3 has been developed from ground of. ISPConfig supports clusters of individual servers and clusters of mirrored servers and also a mix of both modes. There are already many clustered ispconfig 3 systems in use.

Is ISPConfig 3 or 2 better for websites that are high load websites?
|
neither nor. As the load is handles by apache and not ispconfig, it does not matter. But ISPConfig 3 is able to scale to tens or hundreds of servers if nescessary while ispconfig 2 is only capable of managing a single server.
