Default Virtual Hosting With vsftpd And MySQL On Debian Lenny

I have a web server I want to use with virtual hosting. Thanks to that howto I can create ftp 'user' with home folder under /home/vsftpd/user. Of course I can change /home/vsftpd/user to /var/www/user but that is not virtual hosting. Do I need ispconfig to configure the server as multiple virtual hosting web server? Maybe I'm a little bit confused how virtual hosting works with apache. Someone help would be appreciated

ISPConfig does not support vsftpd + MySQL.
