How popular is ISPConfig?

We are trying to decide if we should support ISPConfig on CloudLinux. We made an OS that specifically targets shared hosts. It makes sure that a single site cannot bring down or slow down the server.
Yet, before we make the investment into support ISPConfig -- I want to understand what to expect.
How active is development community?
How many people are using it?
If anyone could help me out with it -- I would appreciate it.

I know that porting will be simple (due to CloudLinux being interchangeable with CentOS). We would basically need to make sure that ISPConfig does the same thing on CloudLinux as it does on CentOS. After that -- just add one more apache module via RPM -- and we are done.
Yet, it is still an expense, and I am trying to understand if it worth it.
Opinion of the ISPConfig community would matter a lot.

If you just want an opinion of a beginner user of ispconfig, I can tell you that I enjoy it very much !

I compared some webhosting software, and for me, it's the best I've seen !

Features are great, design is cool, help is done here.
Nothing bad about ispconfig for me.

Im using ISPConfig on a few test-servers and its working perfect.

1) if i remember right, there are more than 60 Developers with write-Rights to the svn - but i am not 100% sure!
2) i am using ISPC 3 at a server -farm of 10 Servers and the system is running well - no problems

i have 2 server in production with ispconfig and is very good and i give also small help with test the new version

ISPConfig has currently more then 60 developers and about 17 000 downloads a month.

Thanks a lot. Those numbers sound great! Any estimate on number of servers running ISPConfig? Any idea which Linux distributions are most popular among customers?

No, we dont have this numbers. But as updates that are done trough the ispconfig update script do not count to these 17000 downloads as updates were not downloaded from sourceforge, I guess it might be several 10 000 systems.

Most ispconfig developers use debian, but with todays release of version 3.0.2, it is now much easier to install it on centos as ispconfig now supports dovecot and it is not nescessary anmore to compile courier. For the latest installation instructions for centos 5.4 with dovecot, please take a look in the docs folder of the ispconfig tar.gz file.

Thanks a lot. This is exactly what we are planning -- have the patches merged back into ISPConfig. That would be a win-win for everyone.

Its been 2 years since this thread was started, was ISPConfig patched to support CloudLinux?

It would be great if it was supported natively so we can run ISPConfig on it!
