Default Configure SquirrelMail for SSL under ISPConfig 3

I've set up and configured my new Debian Lenny server using "The Perfect Server - Debian Lenny (Debian 5.0) [ISPConfig 3]" instructions, but I am having difficulties configuring SquirrelMail to use SSL.

http://mail.mysite.net/webmail --> works great !
https://mail.mysite.net/webmail --> cannot display the webpage

Can someone provide assistance ? Thanks !

The steps are:

1) Create a new website in ispconfig for squirrelmail, e.g. with the domain webmail.yourdomain.com, make sure that you select an IP address and not * in the site settings.
2) Enable the SSL checkbox for this website and create a ssl cert on the ssl tab of the website form.
3) Install squirrelmail into this website.

Thanks Till. The directions were very helpful. If I may expand upon this, why does:

http://www.mysite.com - go to the www site
http://mail.mysite.com - go to the mail site
http://<any-sub-domain>.mysite.com - go to the mail site ?

Thanks !

Default https for webmail

Hi Till,

ispconfig great tool
Multiserver Installation succesfull and working.
Had to add some of die MYSQL cf files to coresponding keyword in main.cf, Googe and this forum where helpfull.

but now, I do not think your solution for the webmailer works for me.
I like to have only https://mail.mydomain.tld/webmail, the https: ist not needed
I like to have http://mail.mydomain.tld and https://mail.mydomain.tld reroutet to https://mail.mydomain.tld/webmail

I am quite familar with linux mysql and apache on the OpenSuSe plattform which is quite different to the most debian base tutorials. Your configuration is not SuSe standard too an I have some difficulties lokk behind your structurs

For the mysqladmin, which i do not need I created ad dummy site and modified <Directory> path.

Other thing, not as important, I may like to give users the choice beetwenn suirrelmail and roudcube, so a possibilty may to modify http://mail.mydomain.tld to have two links one to https://mail.mydomain.tld/webmail leading to suirrelmail
and another https://mail.mydomain.tld/webmail2 leading to roundcube.

Thanks a lot for help

Rainer

P.S. www.mydomain.tld is on another server not yet managed witg ispconfig
