Default OpenLDAP/Samba DC in 8.10

I'm making progress slowly but surely...learning as I go. My current problem in getting the tutorial to work in Hardy is this:
I've run into a problem when trying to populate the LDAP directory. I put in the command:

smbldap-populate -u 30000 -g 30000

and get the following return:

Populating LDAP directory for domain HOMENET
([SID])
(using builtin directory structure)

erreur LDAP: Can't contact master ldap server for writing (IO::Socket::INET:
connect: Connection refused) at /usr/share/perl5/smbldap_tools.pm line 277.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need more info.
