How hard would it be to configure ISPConfig to work with postfix-vda which can do maildir quotas through SQL? Cause if I plan to use ISPConfig, i'd be considering making a hack to have it interface my postfix-vda SQL quotas.

You cannot use ISPConfig with Postfix using MySQL as backend!

Oh.. I assumed thats how you managed non-shell users.

Then how do you manage butloads of email addresses from different domains? All of 'em can't be system users.. Can they? How else would you differiate tom@thisdomain.com from tom@thatdomain.com?

Have a look at the file /etc/postfix/virtusertable, and you'll understand.

You'll find something like
Code:
tom@thisdomain.com web1_tom
tom@thatdomain.com web2_tom
which means email for tom@thisdomain.com go to the user web1_tom, whereas mails for tom@thatdomain.com go to user web2_tom.

Yes. After the installation the file is here:
/root/ispconfig/scripts/lib/classes/ispconfig_postfix.lib.php
