ubuntu deployment

This a problem I'm having at this moment: install ubuntu on several machines from local network repository without internet connection available. Also, some machines hasn't optical drive.

Googling found some alternatives but in all cases internet is needed. If it's possible to make a local repository from a dvd o something like that I'd really like to know how.

Here, in latin america, there are many places where internet is just a foreign word. Or maybe speeds access you usually use here just are a wish expression.
