Default Centos 5.5 DNS Issue

I installed Centos 5.5 and ISPConfig 3. All seems well except for dns. named-checkconfig and checkzone seem fine. The dns server will not answer it to any requests. I get connection timed out; no servers could be reached. I removed bind-chroot and reinstalled it but I am having no luck. I looked through all of the config files and they seem to be ok.

Here is named.conf
//
// named.conf
//
// Provided by Red Hat bind package to configure the ISC BIND named(8) DNS
// server as a caching only nameserver (as a localhost DNS resolver only).
//
// See /usr/share/doc/bind*/sample/ for example named configuration files.
//
options {
listen-on port 53 { 127.0.0.1; };
listen-on-v6 port 53 { ::1; };
directory "/var/named/chroot/var/named";
dump-file "/var/named/chroot/var/named/data/cache_dump.db";
statistics-file "/var/named/chroot/var/named/data/named_stats.txt";
memstatistics-file "/var/named/chroot/var/named/data/named_mem_stats.txt";
allow-query { localhost; };
recursion yes;
};
logging {
channel default_debug {
file "data/named.run";
severity dynamic;

I would appreciate any help I can get.

Your named.conf file does not match the one from the ispconfig installation instructions. Please reconfigure bind so that it is installed exactly as described in the ispconfig manual for centos:

I renamed named.conf and created new one and pasted the info from the guide and it still does not work.
I stopped and restarted named with no luck. Is there something I need to do to tell bind to accept connections???

// named.conf
//
// Provided by Red Hat bind package to configure the ISC BIND named(8) DNS
// server as a caching only nameserver (as a localhost DNS resolver only).
//
// See /usr/share/doc/bind*/sample/ for example named configuration files.
//
options {
listen-on port 53 { 127.0.0.1; };
listen-on-v6 port 53 { ::1; };
directory "/var/named/chroot/var/named";
dump-file "/var/named/chroot/var/named/data/cache_dump.db";
statistics-file "/var/named/chroot/var/named/data/named_stats.txt";
memstatistics-file "/var/named/chroot/var/named/data/named_mem_stats.txt";
allow-query { localhost; };
recursion yes;
};
logging {
channel default_debug {
file "data/named.run";
severity dynamic;
};
};
zone "." IN {
type hint;
file "named.root";
};
include "/var/named/chroot/etc/named.conf.local";

Have you followed the installation guide to the letter to install named? Just pasting the new content of the file is not sufficient.
