Default Upgrade the Base System

I was wandering if it is safe to upgrade the base system? Like, mysql, proftpd and all other packages related to the functioning of ISPConfig.

I use it on FC6. And, of course, I want to upgrade, but I'm not sure if I do so, would averything be OK after that?

Normally upgrading should be no problem, but as you can never know, you should make a backup of the system before you do so (e.g. with SystemImager or Ghost4Linux).
