Which FQDN did you enter this time? darkomenmd.homeip.net or server1.darkomenmd.homeip.net?
Does your firewall allow pings? What's the output of

ping -c2 darkomenmd.homeip.net
and
Code:
ping -c2 server1.darkomenmd.homeip.net
?
