Yes I tried that, but had no luck, perhaps I didn't find the right place in the file.
This is which I changed in /etc/rsyslog.conf

Code:
 Some "catch-all" log files.
#
*.=debug;\
        auth,authpriv.none;\
        news.none;mail.none     -/var/log/debug
*.=info;*.=notice;*.=warn;\
        auth,authpriv.none;\
        cron,daemon.none;\
        mail,news.none          -/var/log/messages
Is that correct?
I also tried adding a new file in /etc/rsyslog.d/ but didn't work either.
