How recent is the hardware in your PC and was it working fine with another OS installed? Check your hardware clock (BIOS setup) for correct date and time, make sure that their are no scratches or fingerprints on the reading surface of the drive.
I have a freind that was trying to load SuSE 11 on his machine and was having similar issues - boiled down to fingerprints and the clock was off by 1 year.
