Yea, after looking at it it turns out that I wasn't using the full username which includes domain. I was missing the domain in the username. Once I added that it worked

In my multi server setup the second DNS server is setup as a mirror, so it should be able to use the same IP. I keep reading you use the same IP as staic for the DNS, hwo that works I have no idea...
