I don't know anything about that particular router but my Netgear WNR3500L was simple to setup and forward any ports including port 80. It's also been extremely reliable--I've had it up and running...

Sounds like the FTP server you are trying to access is not running. Another possibility if you can't ping the server at all is that the server itself is offline or perhaps you are being blocked off...

BTW.. I don't know about your ISP but mine only charges a few dollars more per month for a fixed IP...
