ok, it looks like phpmyadmin uses the apache2 php.ini file and the websites use the local files /var/www/conf/web1/php.ini which can be modified with special settings.

In this case, I know for sure that MAC addresses are only broadcasted on LAN and not on WAN, so this information will not be available to anyone...
