ISPconfig on Ubuntu: Upgrading Breezy to Dapper
 

Hi there,

Does anyone have experience with upgrading Ubuntu Breezy to Dapper on a live system running ISPconfig?

I've got ISPconfig running on Breezy, but am a bit worried that upgrading Ubuntu might cause problems with ISPconfig.

Has anyone gone through the upgrade and has good or bad experience with this?

I've not tried this update yet, but I can give you some general hints.

1) ISPConfig is relatively robust concerning operating system updates. I'am doing debian updates (apt-get update, not dist-upgrade) on my ISPConfig system regularily and never had problems with that.

What may happen is that apt replaces some config files during update, so ist wise to make a backup of /etc/. The most interesting files are your postfix main.cf file and the apache2.conf file, where the ISPConfig installer has added some lines at the end of the file. If they where overridden by the update, copy them from the old config files to the new files.

I haven't tried it, but you can make a full backup of your system before you do the upgrade.

Any luck with the upgrade Clogboy? Thinking about doing it myself.

Hi Svenna, I haven't been game enough yet to try it on the production server. Currently I'm busy migrating a lot of sites/users from an old Cobalt platform to the ISPconfig platform. Once that is all done I will set up an Ubuntu Breezer + ISPconfig platform in VMware and test the upgrade. If that all goes smoothly I will do it on the production server.

Any news on the upgrade Clogboy?
