Debian Etch OpenVZ & Raid

The HowTo OpenVZ On Debian Etch For Webservers states:

First install Etch (make sure to set up RAID with the installer).

My question is: why is it necessary to set up RAID?

Help and advice are highly appreciated!

I think it's because the author says the following in the introduction:

Quote:

This guide is written during an install of a Supermicro machine with 2 dual-core opterons (64-bit), 2 identical disks (for RAID) and a load of memory.
I don't think you need it if you don't want to use RAID.
