[ISPconfig Install] Cannot allocate memory

Hello.

I tried to install ISPconfig on a vserver today.
First i installed a minimum base system, then i followed the Perfect Setup Howto for a Debian 3.1 system.
All okay till here.

Now i tried to setup ISPconfig. At compilation of PHP 5 i got following error:

Code:

/bin/sh /root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/libtool --silent --preserve-dup-deps --mode=compile gcc  -IZend/ -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/Zend/ -DPHP_ATOM_INC -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/include -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/main -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4 -I/root/ispconfig/openssl/include -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/ext/date/lib -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/ext/mbstring/oniguruma -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/ext/mbstring/libmbfl -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/ext/mbstring/libmbfl/mbfl -I/usr/include/mysql -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/TSRM -I/root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/Zend    -I/usr/include -g -O2  -prefer-non-pic -c /root/install_ispconfig/compile_aps/php-5.1.4/Zend/zend_execute.c -o Zend/zend_execute.lo

I tried to find a solution with google. One solution was to create an extra swap file but this fails with an error "swapon: /tmp/swapfile: Operation not permitted".
Other suggestion was to chance the compile script, so that php is compiled with --with-low-memory option. Even not successful.

Maybe some other hints? Or are there precompiled packages for debian?

It seems that your vserver does not allow you to allocate enough memory to compile PHP. You have to talk with your hosting provider if they can set your memory limit to a higher value.

Just resolved my Problem.

For all others with the same problem, try to stop all daemons except the ssh (so you can administrate your server) and recompile.

In my case that was the solution.

Now i am on my way to the ISPConfig Community *grin*
