ISPconfig3 "Single Server Setup" mailserver hostname?

Hi,

"The Perfect Server - ISPconfig3 - Ubuntu 10.04 (release upgrade to 12.04) "Single Server Setup"

The hostname you enter during the installation "server1.mydomain.tld", will that be the name for the mailserver, sqlserver etc. as well? If not, what is usually done from this point on? Do I need to rename it myself? If, how is it done?
I am having trouble receiving mail from the outside. But if the mailserver on a "ISPconfig Single Server Setup" is named "server1.mydomain.tld" then I guess the reason to the problem of recieving mails must be the MX-record:

@ MX 10 mail.mydomain.tld

Please help...

Kind Regards,
Dan

This is the name of a server. A server has exactly one hostname.

Thats not related to the server hostname. Just ensure that you have a a-record for mail.mydomain.tld pointing to the IP of the server.

Hi Till,

Sorry for the late answer - but thanks.. I get it now.. When receiving my first mails - there was "received from: server1.mydomain.tld in the header and the MX-record is --> mail.mydomain.tld!

It works.. Just not for long. But the new issue is not so big a problem, at least I hop..

Anyway, thanks for your help
