switch from dovecot to courier - possible?
I am running a ISPConfig3 v. 220.127.116.11 on Debian 6 with Apache and BIND (plus dovecot), installed using Falko's perfect server how-to.
Now I have the problem that dovecot makes it difficult to manipulate autoresponder messages by script, so I want to switch the mailserver to courier.
Is this possible on a running server? is this as easy as removing dovecot packages and installing courier or will this break ISPC3 functionality?
I also have squirrelmail installed, but I guess that one will be easy to rewire onto courier by simply reconfiguring it. correct?
I edited the title of the thread to show courier instead of postfix, but somehow it doesn't work - the title doesn't get changed by the edit.
bumpity bump... anyone please?
What I have done so far:
- uninstalled dovecot
- installer courier
- reconfigured Squirrelmail to use courier
- replaced every occurence of dovecot in postfix/main.cf with courier
how to reconfigure ISPConfig services?
the update script just tells me that my version is already the newest.
The layout of the maildirs is different in courier and dovecot, so you can not just switch between the two without manally adjusting the layot of each account.
The difference is that dovecot uses a "Maildir" directory, so you have to copy e.g. /var/vmail/domain.tld/user/Maildir/* to /var/vmail/domain.tld/user/
Additionally, in ispconfig, you have to change the imap server setings from dovecot to courier and from deliver to maildrop under System > server config > mail and then run the ispconfig updater on the shell and let it reconfigure services.
thank you till, I will try that
