need help with mod_evasive2 config file

can't get these two lines to work:

Quote:

DOSLogDir "/var/log/apache2/evasive"
DOSEmailNotify ovidiu@mydomain.tld
Do I need quotes around the log path? Do I need them around the email address?

I triggered mod_evasive with a test script and it blocks me but no mails get ever sent out nor any logs are being generated.

Is it ok if the evasive log directory is owned by www-data:www-data or should it be root:adm as the other apache log files?

found this: http://library.linode.com/web-server...dosemailnotify

NOTE: Be sure MAILER is set correctly in mod_evasive.c
(or mod_evasive20.c). The default is "/bin/mail -t %s" where %s is used to denote the destination email address set in the configuration. If you are running on linux or some other operating system with a different type of mailer, you'll need to change this.
is that needed if I installed libapache2-mod-evasive via apt-get? shouldn't is my guess...
