Virtual user FTP - question

Hi!

I have one question about virtual user FTP... as I have documentroot /var/www, there I created two virtual domains and it works perfectly. Now I'm wondering how to create virtual user with FTP access, which FTP client would working best with virtual user? I'm using Apache2.2, MySQL 5.1, PHP5 and Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. Thanks if I get great answer.

Hey dude. So you have two websites that you're hosting with Apache? Do you mean your Apache DocumentRoot is /var/www where both of your websites are hosted from? You basically want to have one FTP user to be able to access both website files, right?

Go to your passwd file at /etc/passwd and open that up in your favorite editor. If you look on the left side, you'll see all the users on your system. Find the user you want to access both sites via FTP with and change the first directory set from /home/user to /var/www/ and you should be set! Just reload your FTP software at that point for the changes to take effect.

Yes, DocumentRoot is /var/www where have two website folders who needs to access each user from my websites are hosted. Password on /etc/passwd does not help I think? But I do try to create a user access and change home path to /var/www/first and see if this is work for me. Thanks you for reply!
