During configuring ISPconfig 3 missing SASL and PAM

Hello to you all,

I Build a server following howto: The Perfect Server - CentOS 5.5 x86_64 [ISPConfig 3]. During the configuration of ISPconfig I missed SASL and PAM in the list. Is this a problem, and if so how do I install them.

Another question after building the server I tried to run yum update. I got a lot of dependecy problems. Is it wise to install yum-utils and use the package-cleanup program.

Does anybody know a tutorial how to use ISPconfig 3? Looked for it but couldn't find one.

With kind regards

Ad.

If you've followed the tutorial to the letter, then everything's fine. :)

Please make sure that you exclude Postfix from the updates because if you don't, it is possible that a Postfix update without MySQL support gets installed.

An ISPConfig 3 manual will be released soon. :)

Hi Falko,

I'm building it again, I used a repo for dovecot maybe that is a problem. I also use gnome, but it seems to function.

I excluded postfix as told in the howto. Does it matter where you put the lines in the base and update chapters. Below the enabled line or below the key-line.

After my post I read you are writing a manual. So I will wait patiently!

It doesn't matter where you put the lines.

After rebuilding the server according the howto SASL and PAM where there. Maybe there was something wrong using the repo for installing Dovecot.

I used this:
[atrpms]
name=Red Hat Enterprise $releasever - $basearch - ATrpms
baseurl=http://dl.atrpms.net/el$releasever-$basearch/atrpms/stable
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://ATrpms.net/RPM-GPG-KEY.atrpms
enabled=1
includepkgs=dovecot*
[atrpms-testing]
name=Red Hat Enterprise $releasever - $basearch - ATrpms-testing
baseurl=http://dl.atrpms.net/el$releasever-$basearch/atrpms/testing
gpgcheck=1
gpgkey=http://ATrpms.net/RPM-GPG-KEY.atrpms
enabled=1
includepkgs=dovecot*

Updating was still a problem. I noticed there where a lot of i386 files installed, with a x86_64 equivalent. After removing all those files, yum update functioned.

With kind regards, Ad.

The ISPConfig 3 manual is finally available (in PDF format)!

On nearly 300 pages, it covers the concept behind ISPConfig (admin, resellers, clients), explains how to install and update ISPConfig 3, includes a reference for all forms and form fields in ISPConfig together with examples of valid inputs, and provides tutorials for the most common tasks in ISPConfig 3. It also lines out how to make your server more secure and comes with a troubleshooting section at the end.

Version 1.0 for ISPConfig 3.0.3 (Date: 09/30/2010)
Author: Falko Timme <ft@falkotimme.com>
299 pages

The manual can be downloaded from these two links:

http://www.ispconfig.org/ispconfig-3...nfig-3-manual/
http://www.howtoforge.com/download-t...onfig-3-manual

Now the bad news: we canít offer it for free. But it will be available for as low as 5 EUR per copy Ė we think this price is more than fair for a manual with nearly 300 pages.

Why Do We Charge For The ISPConfig 3 Manual?

We hope that this will allow us to employ an additional full-time ISPConfig developer who can disburden the core team. This would accelerate ISPConfig development a lot and also allow us to provide more support for ISPConfig users.
