how to know your ip address?

You can visit aafter.com to know the IP address of your computer. Just type ip? on the search box and get your IP along with geo location just in seconds.

This is how i do it on my Mac. Open the terminal:

nano -w .profile

and than paste following:

Quote:

alias myip='curl -s http://www.whatismyip.com/automation/n09230945.asp | grep -o '[0-9][0-9]*.[0-9][0-9]*.[0-9][0-9]*.[0-9]*''
Save and quit the file. Afte that just type myip and you will get you external IP.

But a small question has raised in my mind that is there any other way to know the IP Address apart from this??

You can also check out the status page of your router.

when is it that you need to know your IP address. For me it is usually to perform an FTP unlock for my IP only.
