relates to snmp(simple network management protocol)

hi guys, does anyone know how to turn on SNMP in a windows server 2003/ubuntu? How to poll a value from server to MIBs Browser. Please help, i am totally alien to this.

In ubuntu you will have to modify your snmp.conf file and start the snmpd daemon, you can then use snmpwalk to see the values, with windows i have no idea.

ok.. thanks.. any idea how and where can i download snmp package updates for ubuntu in VMWare as i am not able to install snmp in there.
