DNS wont restart
Having had this problem before, I knew exactly where to look in the forums for the answer.
Alas, none of the solutions worked. I updated to the latest and greatest ISPConfig software today, and shortly there after, the problem started. There were no new websites or any other changes either before or after the upgrade. Last new site on server was months ago. [***@** ~]# /etc/init.d/named start Starting named: Error in named configuration: /etc/named.conf:3: change directory to '/home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web/multidoc/edit' failed: file not found I did what was recommended: Code:
chmod 755 /var/named/http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/sho...4407#post94407 http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15145 http://www.howtoforge.com/forums/sho...t=11207&page=3 One of these threads was originally mine, with the answer. Ok then -so what did I miss?? As always, Thanks in advance for the help. |
You did not miss anything if you were able to save the setting in ISPConfig and the path was not reverted by ISPConfig.

Still no luck
I have now gone as far as re-installing the upgrade from yesterday to no avail. (no errors)
I have re-entered the information as noted above, ISPConfig does not revert the information, yet I still am unable to restart DNS. Still the same: [***@** ~]# /etc/init.d/named start Starting named: Error in named configuration: /etc/named.conf:3: change directory to '/home/admispconfig/ispconfig/web/multidoc/edit' failed: file not found I must be missing something somewhere? Suggestions? Create this directory with the needed files the system is looking for? |
What's the output of
Code:
ls -la /var/named/chroot/var/named |
Requested Code
Thanks for the followup. Here is the code - it's rather lengthy..
Code:
total 109120Feedback and help is greatly appreciated. I should note this is a CentOS 5.2 64bit box and the ISPConfig upgrade was from 2.2.24 to 2.2.27 |
Can you also post the outputs of
Code:
ls -la /var/named/ |
DNS Problems
Sorry for the slow response. Holidays (American) can be time consuming:

Looks ok. Did you update any zone in ISPConfig so that ISPConfig rewrites the named.conf file with the new details?
