Users and websites aren't created
I am very new to linux, but i've been running Apache/MySql/PHP on windows boxes for a couple years now. I installed fedora linux to the perfect setup guide (cept I used DCHP and set the LAN IP to be static in the router.) My IP is dynamic, but I use a free DynDNS. (glor.homeip.net)
I had a bit of trouble installing ISPConfig at first, because I was forwarding my domain to a backup server on the network. This caused the first install to fail. I deleted all the files that were mentioned here on the forums in some other posts, and started over. This time the install appeared to work. The login page comes up fine from LAN and outside. I created a user (test), and created a site for this user. Hostname: www Domain: glor.homeip.net I'm not really sure exactly where the website is supposed to be... but I don't think it was ever created... there are also no users created for proFTPd. /var/www/html is empty, as are anything else I figured might be the htdocs folder... plus I did a file search for test and www... didn't see anything with that either... Any idea what is wrong? Edit: I probably should mention that the test user can log in to the ISPConfig, he just doesn't appear to actually get an FTP or website or anything aside from the config for one in his control panel. |

Creating a website with the host glor and the domain homeip.net doesn't seem to do anything differently. I still can't find any signs that any files were created.
I also tried adding a user and e-mail. The user (web1_testuser) cannot connect thru the ISPconfig ftp control, or by ftp://glor.homeip.net/ and entering the username/password pair. /home/www is empty and /var/www contains nothing except for the cgi-bin, error, html, icons, manual, sharedip, and usage folders. The html folder is also empty, but if I place an index there, it will show as the starting page for http://glor.homeip.net/. (Else I just get the standard fedora page) |
Any warnings in /home/admispconfig/ispconfig/ispconfig.log?
What's in Vhosts_ispconfig.conf? |
/home/admispconfig/ispconfig.log
HTML Code:
22.02.2006 - 05:45:14 => INFO - /root/ispconfig/scripts/lib/classes/ispconfig_system.lib.php, Line 696: /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart &> /dev/null |
Please execute:
rm -f /root/ispconfig/.ispconfig_lock What happens if you run this command: /root/ispconfig/php/php -q /root/ispconfig/scripts/writeconf.php |
rm -f /root/ispconfig/.ispconfig_lock gave no error or message of any kind
/root/ispconfig/php/php -q /root/ispconfig/scripts/writeconf.php gave the output: INSERT: 1 INSERT: 3 ERROR: Nothing parsed, nothing printed <BR> INSERT USER: 1 ende EDIT: this also seems to have fixed it... I can now log in to FTP and a website has been created.... ! :D |
OK, then i guess the script has been blocked by a crashed process that has not removed the lochfile correctly. It should work now correctly if you insert anything in the ISPConfig interface.

Thank you very much till and falko, I would have never figured that one out on linux by myself! :P This little setup seems like it could make my life much easier once I figure out how to use ISPConfig and linux to their fullest. I suspect i'll be seeing a lot more of linux in the near future anyway... (comp sci major :eek:).

I'm having another problem now... I can't seem to empty the recycle bin. I have waited a couple hours and the thing still doesn't seem to empty out anything when I click Empty Recycle Bin... 0_0
EDIT: Nevermind!!! I found another post with the same problem finally, and I fixed it by restarting the server as was mentioned in that thread. Not really sure how I missed that post the first time! |
