KDE backup settings for a fresh KDE deployment
Is there a way to back up, in its entirety, the KDE Desktop settings?
Or, are there only certain aspects of KDE that one can backup? For example, I'm running a Linux distribution with KDE. Then I get another computer using Linux and KDE. Is there a way to transfer all settings such as: - wallpaper - the Main panel - extra panels - programs on panels (applets) - Kontact - screensaver settings and my default screensaver. I tried looking for a basic web site that just answered those simple backup questions. I even checked the KDE website but was unable to find anything. At http://www.kde.org/, I did a search for backup settings. Have a safe and happy New Year's! ~Brian |
I'd simply back up and transfer your home directory to the new system. The home directory contains all settings of a user.

Hi Falko,
I didn't realize I could do that. I had thought that different distributions perhaps would treat the home directory differently. And that simply copying my home directory wouldn't do the trick. Thanks for letting me know! ~Brian |
