Postfix: Cannot receive mails but can send out

Hello,

Please assist!!

I run postfix 2.3.3 on my server and clients on the local network cannot connect using outlook express to receive mails, but they can send mails through the server.

Hope you find the following useful in helping me

What happens when you restart Xinetd?

tosin 28th November 2007 19:24

Still the same, nothing changed.

falko 29th November 2007 16:10

What's the output of
Code:

ls -l /etc/xinetd.d
?

Did you update vm-pop3d recently? If so, did the problems start before the upgrade, or afterwards?

What's in /etc/xinetd.d/vm-pop3d and /etc/xinetd.d/vm-pop3d.rpmsave?

tosin 30th November 2007 16:15

Yes I up updated recently and it has started before the update.

vi /etc/xinetd.d/vm-pop3d

when i also try to retrieve mails using ms outlook it promps me for username and password which i have imputed earlier.

I also get this result

root@mandriva tacticaled]# telnet localhost 110

Are you absolutely sure you're using the correct username and password?

tosin 2nd December 2007 13:49

Yes i use the correct username and password. even when I create new users through webmin or the shell prompt, they are not shown in the mail spool directory /var/spool/mail

falko 3rd December 2007 17:15

I'm not sure what's causing your problem... :(
