I have a R420 vid card from ATI, and I've been trying to get Beryl working. I used this tutorial, and it worked beautifully! But I reinstalled for unrelated reasons, and now, when I go to install Beryl again, I get to

This should show the following line:

and instead I get:

Maybe a problem with the ATI driver. Have you tried to reboot the system?

bewildered, but happy.
 
I rebooted, and there was no change. but then I powered down all the way, and all the way back up. Now I have DRI, so maybe the BIOS wasn't reloading properly on a soft reboot. I'm not going to tempt fate by delving deeper. Thanks!
