Change Gateway To Linux

Hi guys ,

I need to change my current home network configuration.I have no previous knowledge in Linux so bear with me.....
Until know my network was composed of 4 windows hosts ,a switch , a router(gateway)and everything was easily configured.
Now i want to have a Linux server as the closest gateway for my Intranet but i have no ideea how to do it right...

I have Fedora Core 1 installed .... :(
