vmware server+ubuntu+lpt printing client

hi,

I still have one problem with vmware server installed on ubuntu 6.06.

Everythings works fine now except printing to a laserjet that is directly connected to the vmware server box running ubuntu.

My goal is to make printing work from a windows xp guest in vmware.

Problem: when i add an lpt port the windows guest vmware server tells me it can't find the port an starts disconnected.

I know ubuntu has discoverd my printing port because i can find a /dev/lp0

The printer is a hp laserjet 5p ( ubuntu serverinstall ).

Do i need to install cups ... or something else to make this work

I don't think this is possible because your virtual machine doesn't know of your printr port. It'Sthe same with your USB ports, your speakers, etc. Not all your hardware is available in a VMware virtual machine.
