IMAP problem

I am now testing out my email server and am having trouble with the external connection of IMAP. When I point to the internal IP it works fine. When I point at the external I get "the connection was refused".

I looked in the maillog file and cannot find any connection information.

Linux fedora core 6 following perfect setup.

Oh, I can use pop3 just fine and sending out works also.

Any ideas?

Update:

I went to an external site and was able to telnet to port 143 and log in.

I have tried selecting user authentication and de-selecting it. Same error. Connection refused.

I figured it out. Had a bad email ip address.
