I have just finished installing CentOS 4.4 on machine here... The problem I'm having is that I can't force the OS to boot into console, it only opens into KDE. I want KDE on there in case I need to use one of the GUIs as I want to learn the teminal way but need the availability of GUIs if I can't figure it out..

Anyways, it boots into KDE now, how do I make it boot into console, then I can manually start KDE when I want to?

I did this on one of my Mandriva boxes but it was in the GUI somewhere and I can't seem to find anything like that in CentOS...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit /etc/inittab. You'll find a line for the default runlevel, change it from 5 to 3 and save.

From redhat website:

The default runlevel is decided in /etc/inittab. You should have a line close to the top like:

id:3:initdefault:
