Postfix smtp port connect not working! help! im almost crying now.

Hi everyone,
i desperately need help here.
i suspect postfix has tls on or something.
everytime i try to connect on my smtp port
i'm shown a blank screen.
the mail client can connect to smtp port
but also gets stuck in the connect state
i can connected but i cant do anything!

i already tried to switch off tls and all that
but i dont know whats wrong.
can anyone help me please?

To find out what is wrong with your mail, check out your mail.log file.
Do you see any related errors?

sorry about the repeat, thought it didnt get through.
i have no mail.log, and when i try to telnet to my smtp
port, its just a blank screen, then it times out, no matter
what i type, eg. ehlo hostname

whats wrong?
