how to install gd2 lib on linux

Hay i am new to linux !!!
I want to install gd2 library on my linux server using ssh, Please tell me where i shoud keep my gd2 linrary and how to install it on server

depends on what distro you use.

If you use Debian/Ubuntu/Mepis then you should be able to install it by apt-get install gd2 (or something similar)
If you are using SuSe then you would use the yast tool...
On all other system: no clue....
