If a customer wants to make a page secure (https) how do they do that... what folder should they upload the page to ect...

As far as I know

you simply upload it to the web directory.
Just enable https for your client.

Also I think you need extra ip address for real certificate.

Do you mean the normal "web" folder for the client

I cant believe this is true... if I big isp has 10,000 hosting clients and all of them can have https pages I dont think that that isp is going to have 10,000 ip addresses available.

Or perhaps they do I dont know, but there must be an easy way to give client https access.

It is true, you can have only one SSL web site per IP address and port. It's an Apache limitation.

Actually itīs a protocol limitation... Because all the traffic is encrypted the hostname is not processed until later. So hostbased ssl virtualhosting is just nog possible with !any! webserver.
