Hello,

I have been tasked with setting up a server
(initially just file and exchange) for about 15 people on 8 computers.
I was a Win 98 master, but my knowledge went downhill from there. I
installed Dapper via "The Perfect Setup - Ubuntu 6.06 LTS Server " instructions. Where do I go from there?

I am very new at this, and would need to follow instructions such as
the ones from "perfect server". I can now log in with putty, but
that's as far as I can go. Our computers are behind a firewall from
the parent organization. So for now, I want to set up a file server,
mail server, and create simple webpage for the network.

Could you direct me to resources for my level of knowledge? My budget at this time is $0, so even a book would be stretching it.

Again, I'm so ignorant on all this that I would need complete
step-by-step instructions. I basically like a "perfect server" part 2!

So for now, I want to set up a file server,
Have a look here: http://www.howtoforge.com/samba_setup_ubuntu_5.10

mail server, and create simple webpage for the network.

For this you should install ISPConfig. It lets you create web sites and email accounts by using your browser. :)
