Perfect Ubuntu server 6.0.6 - Cannot send mail

I think I followed the instructions carefully. I did everything but the ispconfig setup. I can retrieve email from imap account no problem. But when I try to send I get the password prompt in thunderbird again, the password that I type is not excepted. below is the log

Almost got it working, any ideas would be great.

Are you sure you use the correct username and password?
Is saslauthd running?
What's the output of telnet localhost 25 and then ehlo localhost?
