Installing DansGuardian

when trying to install DansGuardian i get this error message after running

[root@localhost dansguardian-2.8.0.6]# ./configure
./configure: line 48: gcc: command not found

checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
configure: error: no acceptable cc found in $PATH

i unpacked the file with tar xvfz
