I was wondering if anyone had any migration tools to go from Ensim 3.x to ISPConfig.
It's the next task on my plate, and any pointers and/or automated tools would be a GREAT help. Thanks!

I don't have such a tool - I've never worked with Ensim...

There is an ISPConfig tool that might be helpful when you want to write an ensim => ISPConfig conversion script:

IMO a migration from Ensim to ISPConfig is a rather huge task ...
There are a lot of obstacles to overcome:
- If you only have the Ensim backups of the sites you might have problems
untarring them due to the digital signature at the end of the files which
gzip labels as "trailing garbage".
- Ensim sites in "High Security" mode might have their own set of certain
config files (such as php.ini)
- Ensim sites in "High Security" mode might have additional software
installed in their filesystem template that could be referenced/used
somewhere in their website
- You'd have to go hunting for mysql/admin/email-accounts and their
corresponding passwords/hashes to recreate all accounts on ISPConfig
there are probably a lot more things to look after than that, but the
question is: how many sites do you want to migrate and ist that worth
the trouble? (And I don't mean switching the control panel  )

Hmmm. Well, I like to consider myself a skilled programmer.
But will the cost out weigh the benefits if I were to write a conversion script?
We've got about 150 sites to move over, about 11 of them make use of MySQL. The rest are pretty much static websites.
I'll look into it, and if I end up making a tool I'll be sure to post here.
Thanks everyone!

If I were you, I'd move those 150 sites by hand to the new server. It's a number that can be managed.

Hello,
I have about 100 sites on my Ensim box.
I've a php class that extract all sites/admins/email/db data from ensim, so I thought that with this class and ISPConfig Remote Framework I could write some script to move config automagically... KishCom, have you some different idea about migration strategy?

That should work. :)

Hi lorello, Did you end up migrating the site to ISPconfig from Ensim successfully? If yes, I would like a how to to move the sites over to a new server with ISPconfig. Both till and falko confirm that this tool is not available. Hope you can help.
Thanks in advance,
Ramin
