Getmail pipe to Postfix MTA

Hi
my question relates to the Getmail how-to on Debian Etch.
I can see that in this guide Falko pipes mail retrieved by Getmail to the Postfix MTA. However, the Getmail documentation does not recommend piping to an MTA, advising an MDA instead.
I just want to confirm that it is possible to pipe Getmail to Postfix this way.
I do want to use Postfix because this is a learning exercise for me and I want to see how Postfix works with Spamassassin, a separate MDA, and IMAP.

The tutorial shows multiple examples how to use getmail, and piping into Postfix is just one of the possibilities.

Thank you. I just wanted to confirm that it is indeed possible and that MTA is not a typo for MDA !
