What does:
Non-authoritative answer:
mean?

When you do "nslookup www.bingftp.com"
you get a response from your NS server (208.67.222.222)

Non authorative, means that the server at 208.67.222.222 is not having the domain www.bingftp.com in it's local zone files, so he has to ask another nameserver for it's ip address.

when you do "whois bingftp.com" you can see the authorative nameservers at the end, those are:

Domain servers in listed order:
NS18.ZONEEDIT.COM
NS13.ZONEEDIT.COM

these 2 are authorative for bingftp.com .. so if you want to make changes to the domain bingftp.com, you have to do that over there @ zoneedit or by WILD WEST DOMAINS, INC. who is the owner of those nameservers.

Registrar: WILD WEST DOMAINS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.wildwestdomains.com

It looks to me that on 72.9.106.68 there is no webserver software running, can you check that?

Al1937

Thanks for the reply Mark,

I got my nameservers from http://opendns.com
Primary 208.67.222.222
Secondary 208.67.220.220

ALSO:
https://www.opendns.com/dashboard/settings/1091490/content_filtering
Brings up:

Manage Settings for: 76.29.159.140/32 (Home)

What does 76.29.159.140/32 represent ???
How and where does it get used?
--------------------------------------------

I have the name servers for bingftp.com set with Zoneedit
NS13.72.9.106.68
NS18.66.223.40.121
--------------------------------------------

I think I have a conflict here but have no idea
how to resolve it.
I am trying to leearn.

"It looks to me that on 72.9.106.68 there is no webserver software running, can you check that? "
I do have Ubuntu Server running on my other networked computer, if that's what I understand.

Is your server behind a router? If so, you must configure your router to forward port 80 to your server.

Al1937
1st August 2009, 14:39
These are the present port forwarding setting
that the Netgear router have been set at.

Port Forwarding / Port Triggering

# Service Name Start Port End Port Server IP Address

2 FTP 20 21 192.168.1.3
3 HTTP 80 80 192.168.1.3

Is this correct?

Al1937

Your gateway and your server both use the IP 192.168.1.3?

Al1937
4th August 2009, 16:21
I have 4 devices hooked up to the router.

3 computers
Named:
1 MYGATEWAY
2 WWW This is the Server Dual boot-Windows XP and UBUNTU 9.04
3 BIOSTAR
4 Comcast VOIP Phone( Name does not show)

With my WWW (Server) computer booted to Windows XP
The Router has these as Attached Devices

# IP Address Device Name MAC Address
1 192.168.1.2 MYGATEWAY 00:13:20:07:3c:d1
2 192.168.1.3 WWW 00:12:17:55:d8:bf

4 192.168.1.103 -- 00:01:e1:0a:cf:2b

-------------------------------------------------

With my WWW computer booted to UBUNTU.

My router shows these as Attached Devices:

# IP Address Device Name MAC Address
1 192.168.1.2 MYGATEWAY 00:13:20:07:3c:d1
2 192.168.1.3 -- 00:12:17:55:d8:bf

4 192.168.1.103 -- 00:01:e1:0a:cf:2b

Note: 192.168.1.3 (my server IP) is listed but with no name.

If my server IP should not be in this range of IPs, how do I get it out of this range?
