Hello All,

I have the following scenario ,i have a demand for streaming solution.
The demand scenario as follow need to provide 10 machines that will get there feed from some USB source 512Kbit/s and will broadcast to Internet stream those feeds.

my solution for that acquiring one powerful server Intel SR2500 based equipped with 16Gb + 4 1G NIC install it with Esxi install on it 10 guest host Ubuntu Linux each using VLC for streaming.

now my issue is i know that Esxi doesn't support usb mapping to virtual machines, obviously i need to use USB over Ethernet/network additional server.

My question does anyone knows any USB server/client product that support Linux and proven to works with VLC?.

Another question ,presented scenario is there another better solution that i can think of?.

Please advice
Thanks,

VirtualBox supports USB: http://www.howtoforge.com/virtualbox-2-how-to-pass-through-usb-devices-to-guests-on-an-ubuntu-8.10-host
You can run VirtualBox on a server: http://www.howtoforge.com/vboxheadless-running-virtual-machines-with-virtualbox-2.0-on-a-headless-ubuntu-8.04-server
